Hmm... Durian

Yes the durian season is coming hm~ well, nowadays durian was like in season all year round in Singapore but in fact, May and June period are the peak season.

To celebrate this occasion, my office people is planning a durian feast and this is a little mailer that i drew. Crayon style to portray the creamy and sticky texture of the king of fruit!

OMG it has been 2 months since i last contributed to my blog. Well this is a good sign for people like me in this freelance line, it shows that I’m busy enough, financially. LOL

Ok, here's a little project I did for the green committee. It is a design for a green bag that young people won't feel shy using it. In my perspective, a green bag that young people won't mind using must fulfill the following conditions:
1) The logo must not be too big unless it is a big brand such as nike, addidas etc.
2) The green bag must look cool and classy :)

My Merlion Pixelart

For some reason, I have always like the Merlion, I find it cute and perhaps that's why my Merlion Pixel looks cute too.

Well, I started this pixelart as a personal project in 2007 and I'm shameful to say that I haven't have the time to complete it since then. My plan was to create a pixelart of the marina bay with the merlion, the esplande and others buildings around it. Hm.. maybe I'll finish this piece of work after my final year project?

In the meantime, may God bless the Merlion!

Mr Lunchbox and Miss Waterbottle

Mr Lunchbox and Miss Waterbottle are two swimming robots that I designed for the above event. This event is a competition meant for Scondary School students, so i made it cute and 'catchy', hoping to attract the youngsters to participate.

In fact, I have seen the video of the robot swimming in the pool, it was impressive, not only does it swim on water, it can submerge into the water and re-emerge like a submarine. Too bad I'm overaged to participate in this interesting events :'( *sob*

Between 2001 to 2003, I was given the opportunity to be the webmaster for the SAPES website. SAPES stands for the Singapore Association of Personal & Executive Secretaries and now it is SAAP which stands for Singapore Association of Administrative Professionals.

The following was what I did back then, but when I tried to access their current website (www.saap.org.sg) on 3 Feb 2009, it was under construction, I wonder what happen.

My Neighborhood, Hougang

I made this web poster in Sep 2006 for 1 of my school assignment. The theme given was "My Neighborhood, (Place that you stayed at)".

Having stayed in Hougang for more than 20 years, this is 1st time that I did something about my neighborhood. It was a fun experience walking around the estate taking pictures.

The final artwork was compiled using masking technique and vector graphic drawing in Photoshop.

Camera Matching

Camera matching is a technique whereby a computer generated object is incorporated into an animated film or movie. This technique is mostly used in movie making and commericals in the media industry.

This is the first piece of camera matching i did for my school assignment. 3D modeling of the objects are not difficult. The toughest part is about creating the same environment for the shadow casting and aligning it against the scene in the live footage.

SAF Day 2006

At my previous workplace, I've been a Secretary for the SAF Day Rededication Ceremony from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, I was given the opportunity to design for this event. Although design was not part of my job scope, it was my interest and it really made me happy seeing my work being published at the end of the day.

The design process started from drafting a few designs for our management selection. Once the design is confirmed, the rest of the collaterals such as stage lectern backdrop, invitation card, banner, certificate etc... were developed from the finalised design.

First flash animation i did for a National Education website back in 2001. Basically it shows a list of website navigation together with a movie clip that will display the 6 NE messages with some pictures.

Round de Campus Relay

Below are some collaterals that i design for this annual event called the "Round de Campus Relay". Basically staff and student will team up in group of 4 or more and each relay groups will race against each other around the campus to the designate finishing line to win.

I used to be in the track & field team when i was in secondary school and the sad thing is that i never get to touch the finishing line. Therefore to give every participants a sense of team and sporting spirit, a ribbon design for this event particularly on the t-shirt. Everyone participating in the race will wear it and it'll make everyone's a winner! yeah!

Stage backdrop for TP Graduation 2003

I did this design during the 2nd year of my previous job. That was the first time i design a stage backdrop (20m by 9m if i remembered correctly). And of course, being a newbie then, my boss who was a product designer, helped me alot in fine-tuning the details. On the overall, the final product look great with the combination of the stage's spotlights.

Photo Restoration

I did this piece of work for my grandma. This photo was taken in 1953 and it was damaged after being soaked by rain water back in the kampong days. Some part of the photo were torn when it was peel off the photo frame. Fortunately, important features such as the faces were intact, otherwise i won't know how to fix the photo without knowing what my great grand parents look like.
